Best Blender With Glass Jar
Oster Master Series Blender
So simple and easy to use, this is the blender of choice if you’re looking for that early morning one button smoothie.
The controls are so easy to use, your 5 year old could work it out (but please, don’t let them near your blender.) One touch buttons let you shift between smoothie and food preparation, and 3 more buttons control automatic texture settings, between thin, medium and thick.
It comes with a shatter resistant 6 cup glass jar and a 24oz blend and go cup, with the blending handled by an extra large, 3 inch, 6 point stainless steel blade. It’s all driven by an 800w motor that’s solidly powerful, and easily cuts through almost anything.
However, it’s recommended not to use ice in this blender, as it’s not designed for that. For the price, this is a fantastic blender, handling jobs the equal of things four times the price on our list. It’s even covered by a 3 year guarantee.
Hamilton Beach Power Blender
A powerful little blender with a lot of power on top of nice touches, as well as an ice crushing function, the Hamilton Beach is our budget pick of choice.
With 12 blending functions accessed by 5 simple buttons, it’s incredibly easy to use. The 40oz glass jar is perfect for smoothies, shakes and icy drinks, especially since it’s so easy to clean. The jar, blades and lid are dishwasher safe, and the jar itself has an easy pour design.
With 700 watts of peak power, it’s surprisingly punchy for such a low price, and easy cord storage and a small footprint means it’s also not going to take up any kitchen space. Finally, there’s a 3 year limited warranty, just in case everything goes wrong. For a small blender, it has pretty much everything you need!
Instant Ace Nova Hot and Cold Cooking Blender
A big, beefy cooking blender, the Instant Ace Nova is a complete tool that’s perfect for hot, tasty soups, pizza bread, dough making and more.
For starters, it’s important to point out that this review is looking at two different models, the Ace Nova, and the Ace Plus. They’re almost identical, apart from a couple of key differences. The main difference is power. The Nova puts out an impressive 1000 watt peak and 25,000 RPM, whereas the Plus is slightly more powerful, at 1300 watts, and 26,500 RPM.
The difference in price for this power is relatively tiny, so given the option, we’d always spring for the Plus, but both are fantastic blenders for the price.
For starters, it’s a 10 speed, 10 in 1 function blender that can also be used for cooking, because of the built-in 800 watt heater. It doesn’t just cook, it can maintain by keeping food warm for up to 2 hours after use. Pre-programmed smoothie and crushed ice programs make creating frozen treats a breeze, and the smart cleaning program can blitz residue from the blades in less than 60 seconds.
All in all, this blender has everything. You don’t even need the cooking function to make this worthwhile, that’s just an added bonus, which is why this is our top pick for cooking, and almost our top pick for everything else.
Vitamix 5200 Blender
Vitamix are well known for making fantastic blenders, and the 5200 is no exception to that. Everything about it is well made, and the performance is incredible, but you do pay a pretty penny for it. But if you’re looking for the best, you might have found it.
For starters, it’s a beast. A massive 2HP, 1380 watt motor drives blades made from aircraft grade stainless steel. The blades can actually run fast enough to generate enough friction heat to cook what’s inside, so you can use this to make hot soups and other delicious treats, and it can bring things from stone cold to steaming hot in around six minutes.
A radial cooling fan and internal thermal protection system keeps everything cool and you safe even if you’re making larger batches in the 64oz container. When you’re done, you can add a drop of dish soap and some water, then run the 60 second cleaning program to have everything spic and span.
Even the container is unique, with a precise design that folds ingredients back into the blades by creating an internal vortex, so you won’t get any bumps or clumps. Finally, it’s USA made and Vitamix is still family owned, so you can feel good about supporting local, family businesses.
Yes, it’s big, and yes, it’s expensive, but the Vitamix 5200 is built to last, and it even has a massive 7 year warranty. It’s the best blender on this list, if that’s what you’re looking for, and in our opinion it’s more than worth the asking price.
Nutri Ninja Foodie Blender
Everyone knows the name Nutri Ninja, but surprisingly, most of their blenders don’t use glass containers, instead favoring cheaper but more portable plastic.
But the Foodi Blender is designed for kitchen use, and can be used for far more than their smaller, more compact shake blenders.
With 1400 watts of peak power, the Foodi is an animal, and will blast through almost anything you put inside. The auto-IQ functions make using it so simple, it hurts, but the controls are easy to navigate if you want to be a little more hands on.
The glass jar and blades are completely dishwasher safe, so clean up is reasonably easy, and supposedly Nutri Ninja’s blade assembly is designed for maximum nutrient extraction, which might just make this the best choice for health conscious shakes and smoothies.
Finally, there’s even a heating element, so it can handle soups and other cooked meals. The only real downside is long term care. Apparently it can be hard to clean, even in the dishwasher, and over time the lid, which is plastic, can absorb odors. This normally wouldn’t be a problem, but there’s no way to get replacements. But if you can avoid that by keeping it gleaming, this blender is fantastic, performing way above its price point would suggest.
Redmond USB Portable Smoothie Blender
If you’re the type to take a flask of home made juice or a smoothie to work or a fitness class, you know it never tastes quite the same as when it’s just made. But now you can fix that problem with this innovative little companion.
Compared to a lot of the other options on this list, it’s a little low on power. But then, it was never meant to compete with them. Designed to be used on the go, it’s fully portable, and works from any standard USB charger. From a full charge, it can blend up to 18 cups of juice, and recharges in as little as 3 to 5 hours.
The tough borosilicate glass container holds 480ml, just under a pint, or around two standard mug fulls, of liquid, easily enough for one person. The 6 piece blade runs at 20,000 RPM, so it can easily blitz standard greens, and there’s an auto power off after 20 seconds, or when the bottle is detached.
Being a portable little blender, the controls are simple, with no real variance. It’s a portable blender, so shouldn’t be bought if you need something for the kitchen, but for what it’s designed to do, which is let you blend and drink delicious concoctions on the go, it’s absolutely amazing.
Amaste Countertop Blender
Safe and powerful, the Amaste Countertop looks like something you’d see sitting in a high end cafe serving bespoke lunches, and it performs like it, too.
1200 watts of blending power drive 8 hardened stainless steel blades to a maximum of 40,000 RPM. That might sound like a lot of numbers, so the takeaway is this, this blender has one of the highest top speeds we’ve ever seen.
It’s easy to use, with simple controls and 9 pre-programmed settings, and even has a heating element so it’s perfect for soups and baby food.
The 64oz glass jar can take up to 1750ml of ingredients, and there’s a lid lock, and an auto shut off if the cover is opened. It comes with a tamper, a cleaning brush, and there’s also a one-click cleaning mode to make clean up easier.
Downsides? Only a 1 year warranty, and it’s very big and heavy, at almost 19lbs. That’s almost double something like the Vitamix, which is equally as powerful as this, so if you’re worried about countertop space, you might want to look at the rest of our list. If not, this is a powerful and varied blender for a very reasonable price.
Braun JB7350 Premix
Braun make solid, dependable products, for solid, dependable people. The Premix is just that, a powerful and efficient blender that doesn’t do anything special, but what it does do it does very well.
Powered by a 1000 watt motor, there’s more than enough grunt here to chop through anything you put in the 56oz mixing container, including ice, with the ice crush function.
Controls are simple, with one touch pre-loaded functions, but they are a little limited. The blades are strong stainless steel, and Braun also use metal drive elements, which you might not see on budget blenders to save money, so it delivers dependable power and helps it to last longer without breaking.
Overall, the Premix is a decent blender that just doesn’t do enough to distinguish itself. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with it, and if you buy it, it’s definitely going to do what you need it to do with no problems, but there are better options on this list for basically the same price.
Elite Gourmet Americana Mason Jar Blender
Two things stand out about this blender. The fact that it looks like something out of 60s America, and the fact that it can handle 17oz mason jars placed directly onto the blender itself.
That’s huge, as it means you can blend directly into jars that can be screwed tight and stored, perfect for baby food or long term prep. But this blender also takes a 20oz sports bottle, so you can makes shakes and more for on the go use.
The controls are a little too simple, with a one touch pulse switch, and the motor is a little weak, at only 300 watts, but it’s never going to be dealing with large loads, so performance doesn’t suffer.
Light and portable, it sits happily on most counters with the built in suction cup feet, and packs away easily. Perfect for personal use, with a gorgeous retro look, we love this little blender, and we think you would too.
Black & Decker Countertop Blender
Very budget priced, this blender by Black and Decker is a great option if you’re looking for something basic for occasional jobs, but might not be suitable if you plan on using it often.
The 6 cup glass jar is excellent, especially the PerfectPour spout which makes it easy to pour out the end result when you’re done. Blending is performed by a 4 tip stainless steel blade, with 10 speed settings and a pulse. The motor puts out 550 watts of peak power and 350 watt continuous, which is fine for general use, but we wouldn’t recommend using this for big batches or anything that’s particularly hard to blend. It’s also very loud, sounding almost like a power tool, which is appropriate, considering the brand.
Ease of use is great, though. A dishwasher safe pitcher, lid and blade make clean up easy, there’s a measuring lid insert for simple ingredient measuring, non-skid suction feed, and an integrated cord wrap.
If you want an entry level blender with decent features, the Black and Decker can handle it. For anything bigger, you may have to spend a little more.
Our Home Blender Buying Guide
When you’re buying a blender, there’s a surprising amount of things to consider. Here’s what we think you should focus on when you’re looking for the perfect product:
How big the motor is
The motor drives everything on the blender, and it’s important that you buy something with enough power to do what you need it to do.
Motor power is measured in two ways, wattage (W) and horsepower (HP.)
Smaller blenders might only have a motor that’s around 300 to 400 watts, which is enough for daily use.
However, if you’re going to regularly use your blender for food prep, making soups, or you have a large family, you’re going to need more power. Commercial level blenders might have motors that are around 800 watts, or around 1.5 to 2HP.
Blade speed
When you’re checking motor power, it’s also worth checking the blade speed. You might see two figures, maximum blade speed and continuous blade speed, both measured in revolutions per minute (RPM.)
Maximum blade speed is how fast the blender can spin the blades in short bursts, generally in a pulse mode, or when the blades catch or struggle on particularly tough material. High end blenders might have figures up to 40,000 RPM, and 15 to 20,000 at the low end.
Continuous blade speed is the general speed the blender works at and can hold without damaging the motor. Continuous blade speed is a better indicator of how powerful a blender is.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it dishwasher safe?
Cleaning a blender can be quite an involved process, because food material can get stuck in or under all of the working parts, particularly the blades.
Look for blenders that come apart easily, and are dishwasher safe for simple cleaning. Higher quality, modern blenders might also have a pulse clean mode, which cleans the blender by spinning the blades at high speed with nothing but water inside.
How big is the blending container?
There’s a huge variety of sizes for blending containers, and our list has most of them. From smaller, more portable 2 cup jugs, up to huge 6 or 8 cup jugs that can make enough soup or smoothies for the whole family.
The jug size you need depends entirely on what you plan on using your blender for. Too small is obviously not useful, but far too large also isn’t ideal as larger blenders also have larger motors, and it’s wasteful and inefficient to use all that power and excess space to make a one person smoothie.
Can it crush ice, fruit for smoothies, or nuts and seeds?
Not every blender can do everything, and if you’re buying a blender for a specific purpose, you need to make sure it can actually do what you need it to do.
Most mid and high end blenders will have enough motor strength to crush ice and pulp fruit and nuts, but it’s always worth checking, especially if you’re buying your blender to make smoothies and other healthy options.
Does it come with a tamper?
A tamper is a tool that’s used to safely push material down into the blades of the blender, without catching or damaging anything. They’re particularly important if you’re blending large amounts, or blending healthy greens, both of which tend to stick around the edges of the jar and refuse to go down into the blades without a little persuasion.
Why choose a glass jug with your blender?
Most blenders, especially cheaper, entry level blenders, have plastic jugs, but given the option, there’s multiple reasons why you should choose glass.
First off, toughened glass can be almost as robust as plastic, capable of taking serious impacts and lasting a long time.
Second, and more importantly, glass is far more hygienic. It doesn’t hold onto smells or stain in the same way that plastic does, and even the best plastic scratches over time, leading to an ugly appearance and increasing the chances that bad smells and food particles will cling to it.
The only downsides with glass jugs are cost, but this is relatively minor as expensive Tritan plastic jugs are about the same price, and weight, as glass jugs are comparatively heavier.
Do you want a soup maker, or a blender?
If you plan on making a lot of soups with your blender, you might want to consider buying a soup maker instead. While blenders are fantastic for preparing a soup, actually transferring the soup into a pan to cook it can be a lot of fuss.
However, there are other options. Our list has X cooking blenders on it, the XXX and
These blenders use heating elements to cook the soup inside, meaning you can have a nice, hot soup straight out of the jug.
