Best Counter Top Wine Cooler
The Haier 6 Bottle Wine Cellar
The Haier 6 Bottle Wine Cellar is an ideal wine cooler for your counter top space. This single-zone chiller features a curved door with smoked double pane glass, black trimming, and comes with a digital temperature controller that will keep your wine at any temperature between 46 degrees and 66 degrees Fahrenheit.
This countertop wine cooler uses thermoelectric technology to maintain a consistent temperature with minimal noise, and features an external temperature control for easy access.
Haier creates an attractive, quality product and their six-bottle wine cooler is no exception. Using two chrome trays to split up the bottles, this tinted display features a dim blue LED light that looks gorgeous when lit.
And with its small size, there won’t be an issue finding a place for it- whether it is kept on the counter or off of it.
The Haier 6 bottle wine cooler is not without its detractors, however. The occasional “bad egg” is known to leave the company grounds, with the most common complaints from purchasers involving a faulty device on arrival, or a cooling system that goes out within the first two months. It is an extremely small percentage of people who report this problem, but it is important to pass this on.
The Haier 6 bottle wine cellar is one of the most frequently sold wine coolers owing to its combination of size, appearance, capability, and price. I’m quite high on the Haier, and give it a 9 out of 10.
Pros:
- Thermoelectric cooling
- Compact size
- Exterior controls
- Price
Cons:
- Occasional Manufacturing issues (under warranty)
Dimensions:
- 20.3” x 14.1” x 9.9”
Weight
- 17.6 lbs.
The Wine Enthusiast Countertop Wine Cooler
The Wine Enthusiast Countertop Wine Cooler is the affordable and attractive blend of function and form that we have come to expect from Wine Enthusiast.
This countertop wine cooler uses a thermoelectric, CFC-free (non Chlorofluorocarbon) wine cooler that will keep your wine at a preselected temperature between 50 degrees and 66 degrees Fahrenheit- doing so quietly and with energy efficiency.
This model features a freestanding design, with external touch screen temperature controls mounted to a swinging glass door for access. Inside, three separate wooden trays can support up to twelve 750ml bottles of wine.
The issue here is the size of the bottle, however- this cooler is designed to house standard Bordeaux style bottles (2.75” diameter). If you have a champagne bottle, or any concaved bottle, you will need to remove a tray to comfortably fit it.
Plain and simple, this is a wine cooler that will look great in any kitchen. The black notes will do well in light and dark rooms alike, and the wood has a handsome stain that stands well in contrast.
Wine Enthusiast puts out an excellent product, and the only real drawback here is that some ‘fancy’ bottles won’t fit neatly. Is it snobbish to design something that only ‘normal’ wines will fit into?
For its combination of attractive, simplistic style, excellent functionality, and reasonable price, I rate the Wine Enthusiast Countertop Wine Cooler a 9 out of 10.
Pros:
- Thermoelectric cooling
- Compact size
- Exterior controls
- Price
Cons:
- Designed for a small bottle of wine
Dimensions:
- 19.8” x 15.8” x 15.2”
Weight:
- 35 lbs.
The AKDY 8 Bottle Countertop Wine Cooler
The AKDY 8 Bottle Countertop Wine Cooler is an affordable, quiet thermoelectric freestanding wine cooler that combines low energy consumption with excellent heat dissipation to create a wine cooler that is both an excellent value, as well as a warrantied one.
The AKDY features an external electronic touchpad with LED display for easy, convenient temperature control with a range of 44 degrees through 66 degrees Fahrenheit, and can comfortably fit eight 750ml bottles of wine.
This AKDY product includes a one-year warranty against factory defects, and is sold at a very reasonable price.
If there were a knock against the AKDY Countertop Wine Cooler, it would be that the unit does take its time getting down to the programmed temperature after opening, and can sometimes be buggy.
The bug portion is covered under warranty, but you may want to consider how long you leave the glass door open when picking out your wine bottle for the evening.
Pros:
- Thermoelectric cooling
- Compact size
- Quiet
- Exterior controls
- Excellent Price
Cons:
- Slow to cool
- Buggy (under warranty)
Dimensions:
- 16.4” x 20.27” x 10.83”
Weight:
- 20.5 lbs.

What do I look for when buying a countertop wine cooler?

You should also be focused on a countertop wine cooler that is as quiet as possible, and as with any kitchen appliance, you want it to be attractive.
